• 2016 confirmed that online peak is happening earlier, with December recording only a 4.5% growth on November, compared with 14% in 2015.
  • Black Friday sales in the last two weeks in November has flattened and extended the online peak. As a result, the e-logistics supply chain is better able to cope with demand and has more time to recover from any problems before Christmas.
  • Even with a greater demand for Next Day / Specified Day delivery services, UK retailers and their supply partners were able to maintain a reasonably high and consistent level of service over the two busiest months of the year.

The IMRG Metapack UK Delivery Index is designed to enable the e-retail industry to track a range of key benchmark metrics including parcel volumes, order values, delivery services employed and destinations served.  The information presented is aggregated from a consistent sample of Metapack’s extensive dataset, covering over 200 retailers and an average of more than 6m orders in any one month representing £4b in order value in any 12-month period.
