New forecast from Metapack predicts enormous volumes as shopper’s take advantage of sales bargains over the long weekend

LONDON – 24th December, 2015 – Metapack, the global leader in eCommerce delivery management has announced that it expects the coming Monday (28th) to witness a tsunami of orders marking a second wave of Christmas Peak 2015.

Using data sourced from their global delivery management platform, Metapack predict enormous delivery volumes are still to come as shoppers take advantage of post-Christmas reductions over the weekend. Last year, for the same time period, order volume tracked only 3% behind Cyber Monday, and with peak orders up 42%, that means on Monday alone Metapack expect to despatch in excess of 2 million orders through their platform for UK retailers, rivaling or even exceeding those seen on Cyber Monday.

Patrick Wall, CEO at Metapack, explains: “The profile of peak this year was entirely different to what we’ve seen before. With Christmas falling on a Friday this year, we expect shoppers to be snapping up the deals right from Christmas Day and over the holiday weekend, resulting in bumper volumes on Monday Bank Holiday. Last year we saw parcel volumes almost exceed that of the Cyber Weekend and with many shoppers holding back in the final weeks before Christmas, we predict a second wave of peak will hit this coming Monday. “

“This weekend is a massive opportunity for retailers and carriers to continue the high levels of collaboration and communication that we have seen from them throughout this peak period so far.”
