Expanding and consolidating European leadership position; delivering in excess of half a billion parcels a year

London – 9 May, 2016 Metapack, the global leader in eCommerce delivery technology, has announced that it has achieved a 25% year-on-year revenue growth (2015-16 compared to 2014-15). With offices in the UK, Netherlands, France, Germany and Spain, the company is going from strength to strength, winning a greater market share and having secured 66% of its new business in 2015 with customers in mainland Europe. To support this pan-regional expansion, Metapack has increased its employee base with an additional 82 appointments during the course of last year and extended its global reach through existing strategic partners, including key relationships with eCommerce / multi-channel, OMS (order management systems) and WMS (warehouse management systems) platform vendors.

The Metapack commercial team acquired a total of 36 new European retailers and brands during the past year while maintaining 100% retention of existing enterprise customers.

Commenting on this progress, Patrick Wall, CEO of Metapack said, “2015 was an outstanding year for Metapack which saw us signing more and more enterprise sized customers and serving them globally. Some of the leading retail brands that have joined our customer community in the last 12 months include PVH Corp – which owns brands such as Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein, Pets at Home, Brands4Friends, Carrefour and FNAC. We are proud to announce that, of Europe’s top 50 online retailers, a third is now using Metapack.”

Under the leadership of its new CIO, David Jack, who joined the organisation in June 2015, Metapack has invested heavily in its technology. As part of its commitment to help retailers and brands meet the ever-changing consumer expectation and gain competitive advantage through delivery, Metapack made significant advancements to its products and scale of operations, including:

  • Core SAAS infrastructure – Supporting the work that it does with some of the biggest brand names in retail, Metapack moved its technology to a global cloud computing services provider. Ensuring superior reliability, enhanced security, speed, greater monitoring, predicative analysis and better peak capacity management, this development has made Metapack the only vendor that is able to offer such a robust, enterprise scale delivery management platform.
  • Global Label Library – During the course of 2015, Metapack significantly added to its Global Label Library (GLL) to ensure that, within the platform, there is everything that a major brand needs to seamlessly grow its business on an international scale. The additional carriers and services have contributed to the overall expansion of the Metapack GLL by over 2000 services in less than 4 years, bringing the current total to 300 carriers and in excess of 3,500 services.
  • Options & Returns – Delivery is becoming an integral part of the eCommerce user experience resulting in more and more retailers investing in delivery management. Metapack’s Options & Returns functionalities unlock the potential for merchants to offer their customers personalisation, choice and convenience via their website, allowing them to choose the best delivery method to suit their needs.  This dynamic, flexible and targeted approach improves retailers’ conversion rates and reduces basket abandonment by offering customers a highly tailored experience.

Wall concluded: “Due to all the investments that we made in our technology over the last year, Peak 2015 was fantastic – as was our intention. Not just in the run up to Black Friday, but throughout all the ‘mini peaks’ that lead to Christmas.  During Black Friday weekend, our availability was between 99.99% and 99.999%; our systems supported 80,000 requests per minute and ensured that over 3 million parcels were shipped on Peak day – effortlessly handling volumes 45% higher than the previous year.”
