Interim Finance Director (12 month fixed term contract)

Location London Position Fixed Term

We are currently recruiting an interim Finance Director, this role will see you undertake all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures.

The Finance Director will work to increase the performance of the finance function and to accelerate change to deliver more efficient and effective services to the executive and wider business, including operational alignment through a suite of KPIs.

The role reports into the CFO and will liaise closely with the Executive team.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

A. Ensuring the integrity of the accounts, reporting and delivering the planning cycle

  • Overall management of all the accounting and finance operations including the UK, Germany, Poland and the US
  • Build a strong financial control environment, including but not limited to full P&L reconciliation, full balance sheet reconciliation and ensure all statutory reporting is completed in a timely manner
  • Deliver strategy planning process, annual budgets, rolling forecasts & related financial planning & analysis
  • Working with the CFO, manage the business to deliver on its P&L promises and keeping the executives fully updated with associated risks and opportunities
  • Working alongside the CFO and Credit control, and Capex to maximise cash conversion
  • Coordinate and direct the preparation of budget and financial forecasts and report variances
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
  • Manage month end process to deliver results on a timely basis
  • Ensure all balance sheet accounts are fully reconciled as part of the month end process
  • Monthly variance analysis, reporting and forecasting to both exec and key business partners including, Technology, sales and Professional Services
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Liaise with auditors, tax consultants and bankers
  • Build and evolve the group’s cash flow reporting and forecasting at group and sub-group levels
  • Manage and comply with statutory and regulatory reporting requirements and tax filings

B. Manage the finance team

  • Ensure clarity for each role and its associated responsibility
  • Set performance objectives and feedback on the performance on a regular basis

C. Being Business performance orientated

  • Finance organisation that is integrated with key business functions, they work with and support the business in maximising revenue and profitability, specifically tech, sales operations and PS
  • Working with the CFO and Executive Chairman to implement a set of KPIs across the business so what the business has a set of operational initiatives that align to the delivery of the budget
  • Overseeing Pricing strategy
  • Driving, reviewing and influencing technology investments to ensure they offer the best value for the company
  • Support business cases for new initiatives which optimize return on investment
  • Acting as the finance lead on significant customer proposals and contract negotiation
  • Establishing a management reporting dashboard that includes standard SaaS KPIs
  • Cross business engagement with stakeholders on KPIs performance to deliver on financial plans
  • Provide the leadership team with ad hoc analysis to support decision making

D. Developing and promoting a governance system within finance and across the business

  • Ensure revenue and cost decisions are made in a timely pragmatic but controlled environment (more specifically but not limited to HR approval, Deal review, pricing changes)
  • Working with Sales Operations provide a framework to manage and approve rate card/ product pricing decisions
  • Pricing – working with sales operations, ensure all pricing decisions made are in line with new pricing methodology and including the market demands and cost to serve implications
  • Ensure all changes to product rate card are authorized by either FD or CFO

 

Key Skills required

 

  • Strong financial control and financial accounting skills
  • Experience working for a software company, specifically SaaS
  • Excellent strategic and business planning skills
  • Demonstrate examples of a pragmatic approach where effective decision making has been relied upon and which has subsequently impacted financial activity in a positive way
  • Interpersonal skills required to develop and mentor staff, build long standing external relationships and influence and negotiate where appropriate
  • Contribute across the business providing a perspective that does not just focus on finance but rather across the board
  • Excellent communication skills and the gravitas to influence at the exec and board levels. Ability to build relationships yet push through difficult decisions/outcomes as necessary
  • Previous experience of managing and developing staff
  • Ability to work with a high level of accuracy and meet strict deadlines
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment
  • Detail oriented with exceptional organizational/analytical skills
