Nightline partners with MetaPack
Nightline is set to increase its share of home delivery parcel traffic in Ireland after securing the right to feature on the influential MetaPack software platform.
The arrangement sees Nightline, which is Ireland’s largest independent carrier, added to the portfolio of delivery companies operating via the system.
MetaPack numbers many of the leading UK-based e-tailers among its customers, including Marks & Spencer, WH Smith and Liverpool Football Club, shipping more than 40 million parcels a year on their behalf.
Its software enables them to automatically select the most appropriate carrier to handle individual parcels based on the carriers’ respective specialties.
Nightline’s UK Managing Director Geremy Ruffin said his company’s unrivalled ability to service domestic and business customers across the entire island of Ireland stood to increase the volume of items it handled.
“Internet shoppers are known to be more discerning and demanding. They can pick from a broader range of shops than those found on the high street and are not only interested in the quality of the items they buy but how they get to them.
“Therefore, for retailers to know that a carrier like Nightline is able to provide such reliability and speed of service on returns as well as original deliveries will be of great assurance to them and their customers.”
Inclusion on the MetaPack system is the latest fillip for Nightline since it opened a UK regional depot at Altham, in Lancashire. In addition to striking a deal with UK Pallets to freight traffic to Ireland on behalf of its 80 members, Mr Ruffin recently announced that his company had been appointed to handle the huge ‘back to school’ campaign on behalf of Findel Education, Britain’s biggest education supplies distributor.
He added: “MetaPack has an undoubted reputation in helping improve efficiency and distribution on behalf of its clients. We are confident that those firms which have customers in Ireland will recognise the benefits of now being able to take advantage of Nightline via that same system.”
MetaPack Sales Director Steve Vass said that adding Nightline to the portfolio of carriers from which clients are able to choose would only enhance the choice available.
