CitySprint's Flexibility pays dividends in the aftermath of the snow
- The UK’s largest privately owned SameDay Distribution company is helping retailers clear the backlog of deliveries ensuring Christmas deliveries are made on time -
CitySprint, the UK’s largest privately owned SameDay Distribution company, is working with retailers and 3PL companies across the UK to help them clear the backlog of deliveries caused by the adverse weather conditions. Combined with the last minute Christmas shopping rush, many retailers have been faced with a potential crisis with some already halting deliveries in Scotland. There are reports that overnight carriers are struggling with the sheer volume of deliveries before Christmas, with one well-known carrier company having a backlog of 14 days worth of deliveries!
In order to help avert this crisis, CitySprint has been supporting retailers by delivering urgent goods to stores and directly to customers across the UK. Last weekend alone, CitySprint delivered urgent Christmas stock to over 300 stores from one 3PL supplier and also helped with a consignment of over 1300 packages for a well known high street chain.
The key to its ability to support other delivery companies during this time, is CitySprint’s flexibility. It operates a national network, giving it unrivalled UK coverage and has a fleet of over 1600 couriers, meaning it has considerable capacity and, because of the very nature of the Same Day industry, has considerable experience in being able to operate efficiently under extreme pressure.
my-wardrobe.com has recently started working with CitySprint and discusses the importance of their flexibility - Lauren Stevenson, PR Director at my-wardrobe.com said “As all of the standard UK courier services are closed for 4 days over the Christmas holiday period we searched for someone who could meet the changing demands of the online market by providing a quality delivery service. CitySprint is the only company progressive enough to recognise that customers want a service experience that can deliver when they want it. We have partnered with them for the first time during Christmas and New Year to enable us to offer a same day and nominated day Bank Holiday service that can exceed expectations during this time”
CitySprint’s services have also been utilised north of the Border, where the snow has hit the hardest. Many areas of Scotland have come to a complete standstill with some of the UK’s largest retailers taking the decision to suspend delivery services in this area. However, all is not lost, as CitySprint has a considerable presence in the North of England and Scotland and is on hand to help get things moving.
However, with more snow being forecast time is of the essence as retailers come under increasing pressure to fulfil deliveries before further adverse weather takes hold. With this in mind it is worth the retail industry making alternative arrangements...such as CitySprint.
