Why don't I see tracking information in the test system?
As noted in this article, we have processes that forge status updates from carriers so you can test things. However, one of the main reasons why people don't see tracking information is due to their set up.
Most importantly, the tracking code for the parcel/consignment has to be unique (so when the status arrives for that parcel, we know which one to update). More often than not, many retailers within the test system have their number ranges starting from zero, so they actually get tracking codes the same as many others.
The solution is to alter the number range you're using. Either use the same as you'd have in live, or choose a suitably hard to guess one, say nnnnn000 (where nnnnn is a random number of your choice, but not 12345). The chances of two people having the same are therefore greatly reduced. Once the change to the number range is made, you'll need to reallocate those consignments.
Finally, status updates are forged in "real time". The status updates come in more or less as they do in live. If you want to test reporting, you're recommended to create and manifest a load of next-day parcels on a Monday, and start testing on Tuesday (for example). The point is that you won't be able to do everything on Monday.
